Bhowanipur 75 Palli Durga Puja receives Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman Awards for Sera Covid Sachetanata (Swasthyabidhi)

Kolkata, 8th November, 2021: Bhowanipur 75 Palli Durga Puja receives Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman Awards for Sera Covid Sachetanata (Swasthyabidhi). The name 'Bhowanipur 75 Palli' is at present regarded as an emerging star amongst the leading theme pujas of south Kolkata. 

Incessantly for the past few years our puja presents a new theme every year which has created a firm place in millions of heart across the globe, likewise keeping the continuation going in this year 2021 our puja came up with a new line of thought MANOBIK, which was showcased through the means of our puja theme. 

The Bhowanipur 75 Palli puja committee had decided to come to the aid of ''Chhau'' artistes of Purulia district, who were badly hit by the lockdown. ''Chhau'', a traditional dance form, has performers retelling episodes of Ramayana, Mahabharata and the puranas, donning colourful costumes and masks. They depicted a small village of Purulia and brought the government enlisted 'chhau' dancers and their families to Kolkata.  

Speaking to the media, Mr. Subir Das, Club Secretary said, We are dedicating this award to kids & family members of Chhau artists in Purulia. We donated a major share of the subscription and the states dole to them, along with making the premises available for them to perform and sell their goods. We have donated clothes to kids of 250 Chhau Dancers in association with Max and Arihant Enterprises on the occasion of World Daughters Day at Charida Village in Purulia & have also given new clothes to the family members of 'Chhau' dancers by supporting 50-odd families. This initiative was taken by keeping with the financial losses everyone faced due to the pandemic. 

Many artistes and craftsmen are facing financial hardships as festivals and fairs have been called off across the country amid the pandemic. We are inspired by our Honourable CM Smt Mamta Banerjee and we thank her for giving Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman Awards for Sera Covid Sachetanata (Swasthyabidhi).

The State Government gives due recognition to every religion, as a result of which, each religion is able to uphold its true flavour through innumerable local practices and festivals throughout the State. Durga Puja, the festival of Bengal has emerged as a different festival since the year 2013, when the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal had introduced the Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman Awards to motivate, acknowledge and duly recognise the best puja(s) and their creators in urban and rural Bengal. Since Durga Puja is one of the most popular festivals signifying the indigenous cultural identity of our State along with the Navratri celebrations in the entire country, the State Government has come forward to showcase our State by presenting the Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman to add to the grandeur of the festival not only in West Bengal and India but also throughout the world, thereby enhancing the true identity of Bengal in a universal concept.
